Refund and Returns
Legal disclaimer
PokeTrade is an independent South African retailer specialising in second-hand Pokémon Trading Card Game products and collectables. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by The Pokémon Company or its associated entities. All Pokémon-related trademarks and intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, cards sold by PokeTrade are pre-owned and may exhibit reasonable signs of handling, wear or ageing. We endeavour to represent card conditions accurately and disclose material imperfections wherever possible.
Pokémon card values are subject to market fluctuations. Prices are determined at the time of sale and do not constitute a guarantee of future value, collectability or investment performance.
All transactions are governed by applicable South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Nothing in our terms excludes or limits consumers' statutory rights.
Refund and Returns Policy
Second-Hand Goods and Card Condition
PokeTrade specialises in second-hand Pokémon trading cards. Customers acknowledge that pre-owned cards may show signs of wear consistent with their advertised condition.
Every reasonable effort is made to ensure that cards are accurately described, graded and packaged. Customers are encouraged to inspect their purchases promptly upon delivery.
Returns and Exchanges
Due to the collectible nature of trading cards and their fluctuating market values, PokeTrade does not ordinarily accept change-of-mind returns or exchanges outside the legally prescribed cooling-off period.
For eligible online purchases, customers may cancel within seven days of receiving their goods, without providing a reason or incurring a penalty. Customers are responsible only for the direct cost of returning goods in these circumstances. Applicable refunds will be processed within 30 days of cancellation.
Any additional returns accepted at PokeTrade's discretion are subject to inspection of the goods and their condition. Cards must be returned in substantially the same condition in which they were supplied. Any damage, deterioration or alteration occurring after delivery may affect eligibility for discretionary returns.
Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Orders
Where cards arrive damaged, materially different from their advertised condition, or incorrectly supplied, customers should contact PokeTrade as soon as reasonably possible, preferably with photographs.
Where a statutory remedy applies, PokeTrade will arrange the appropriate refund or replacement at its expense, in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act. Consumers retain their applicable six-month statutory protection against qualifying defects.
Market Value and Refunds
Pokémon trading card prices fluctuate according to demand, availability and market conditions. Changes in a card's market value after purchase do not independently entitle a customer to a refund or price adjustment outside their statutory rights.
All approved monetary refunds are based on the original purchase price, not the card's subsequent market value.
Order Cancellations and Administration Fees
Orders require time and resources to sort, verify, package and prepare for dispatch.
Where legally permissible, cancellations may be subject to a reasonable administration fee of up to 20% of the order value, depending on work already completed, materials used and the circumstances of cancellation.
This fee is not automatic and will not apply where a customer exercises a statutory right to cancel without penalty, or where cancellation results from an error or failure by PokeTrade.
Return Shipping Costs
For discretionary returns or exchanges, return shipping and associated costs are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed.
Where goods are defective, incorrectly supplied or otherwise subject to a statutory return right requiring the supplier to bear costs, PokeTrade will cover the applicable return expenses.
Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights afforded to customers under applicable South African consumer protection legislation.
